One of the best drag-flickers in the world, he is a pivotal member of the Indian Hockey team. He made his international debut in May 2010, in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup played in Ipoh, Malaysia. India went on to win the tournament. A year later, Rupinder emerged as the top-scorer in the same competition, the highlight being a hattrick against Great Britain. He won the Top-scorer award again in the 2013 edition of the tournament. He was a member of the Indian team that won the Gold at the Incheon Asiad in 2014, and Silvers in the Asia Cup in 2013 and the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Rupinder is one of those who has played a key role in the recent resurgence of Indian Hockey. He was also part of the sides that emerged triumphant in the Asian Men’s Champions Trophy in 2011 and 2016.
