As long ago as 2004, nine years ago, an 18-year-old made his first-class debut for Delhi. Opening the innings, this debutante would fall only one short of a well-deserved 50, but did enough to create an impression on all those watching. His flamboyant strokeplay was first noticed in the 2003-04 Under-19 World Cup where he was the Player of the Tournament for scoring 505 runs at 84.16 with three centuries.
Shikhar Dhawan battled it out for a number of years in the domestic scene before getting his big break into the Indian team in 2011. Even though he failed to cement his place in the team, he was given a second lease of life in 2013 vs Australia in the home test series, and the rest as they say was history.
Shikhar Dhawan stunned all observers when he stroked his way to the fastest Test century by a debutant with a score of 187 off 174 balls.
This performance gave him an opportunity in the one day team as well, and Shikhar took the opportunity with both hands. He played a crucial role in helping India clinch the ICC Champions Trophy, 2013 by scoring 2 centuries and taking home the man of the series award.
Shikhar has also become a style icon with his shaved head and twirled moustache experiments. He always wears a smile on his face and is extremely confident, humble and charming as an individual.
