Opening the batting, he aggregated 439 runs from 14 matches and won the IPL Emerging Player of the Year award. He proceeded to dominate the domestic season of 2015-16 with 1,321 runs at a stupendous average of 73.38 for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. He was one of the chief architects of the island-city’s forty-first win in the annual competition.
