As a youngster Umesh wanted to join the Police force before cricket caught his fancy and took over his life. Umesh was nineteen when he first bowled with a cricket ball; he did not take very long after that to enter the big league. His performances in domestic cricket and the caught the attention of the national selectors and he made his ODI debut in 2010. The following year, Umesh became the first cricketer from the central Indian team of Vidarbha to play the traditional format of the game.
The paceman has taken over 150 wickets in Test cricket with three 5 wicket hauls to his name. He was also India’s best bowler in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, with eighteen wickets. Currently in the IPL Umesh represents the Delhi Capitals having taken over 100 wickets in the tournament.
